The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Pieria, as an established institution of the Greek State, was founded in 1951...
...as a statutory body of the Greek State and constitutes a compulsory and independent association of natural and legal persons engaging in commercial activities in the Prefecture of Pieria.
Its purpose is to protect and develop the region’s business community in the best interests of the national economy and its progress by providing expertise and support services to its members as well as accurate financial and business information.
Within the framework of its activities:
- Submits consultative and advisory recommendations to the State on issues related to primary production and processing, commercial activities and
services or the national economy in general. - Participates in committees and bodies for the planning of infrastructure projects and ensures by all means the development of entrepreneurship, processing,
trade, the service sector with emphasis on exports and in general to increase productivity and protect the interests of its members. - Issues certificates of registration and certificates of origin for its members
- Provides information to its members and the State on foreign markets, international economic developments and other related issues.
- Informs its members about development, investment and financing programmes.
- Conducts studies and research on trends and developments in the local, regional and national economy and makes relevant proposals with a particular focus on developing the competitiveness of the Greek economy.
- Operates and supports the General Electronic Commercial Registry service (GEMI) and the One-Stop Shop service for the companies located in its
administrative area. In particular, it shall carry out the measures necessary for the proper functioning of the GEMI service and the One-Stop Shop service, applying the existing legislation and the relevant provisions of the applicable legislation, as well as the relevant instructions of the Directorate of Companies and the General Commercial Registry and the Supervisory Committee. - Prepares expert reports and random checks, and resolves commercial disputes through arbitration.
- Holds seminars, conducts training programmes and issues relevant certificates.
- Organizes conferences and workshops to keep its members informed.
- Participates in trade missions and exhibitions abroad to develop our country’s trade relations with foreign markets.
- Publishes journals or books, or sponsors such publications, relating to business and, in particular, business development, and ensures that related electronic
publications are available. - Implements communication and information activities for its members on the work carried out.
